There are many situations in life where the life-skill of ASKING for WHAT You Want can make a big difference in our lives as well as in the world.
Here’s just a few…
• Asking for a raise
• Saying “no” to requests (there’s no power to yes, if you can’t say no)
• Requesting help with a task
• Requesting more information
• Requesting a billing adjustment
• FIRING a client
• Creating a Joint Venture
• Asking someone to participate in something you believe in
• Setting boundaries with children, a spouse, colleague, patrner, date, friend, employee, or employer, etc.
• Asking for Spirit’s assistance
The question is… do you know what you want? Do you remember?
Are you out there asking for exactly that?
Most of us don’t. We have been conditioned in lack and limitation and may have picked up the idea that other people’s opinions are more important than our own. We may also be holding the idea that it’s safer not to ask for what we really want so we can live-on with the hope that we’d get a “yes” someday rather than risk the “no” now which could dash our hope.
That’s called fear of rejection. And here’s the cure…
In service to getting what you want in life… and I really do mean everything… I encourage you to create, review, or update your ideal scene.
What’s an ideal scene?
Consider it a self-directed script for how you’d like your life to turn out.
It’s a collection of I-am statements that outline what you are up-to in your ideal life. Each statement is a positive assertion of your intention. Together they are a way of letting the Universe, God, or Spirit know where you are intending to move and are a powerful way of supporting ourselves in becoming more conscious Co-creators in our lives.
Here are a few examples of statements from past ideal scenes of my own that have worked for me:
“I am trusting in the divine unfolding of my purpose.”
“I am happily receiving $24,000 a week.”
“I am a fit and trim 170 lbs.”
“I am consciously aware of other-people’s point of view, and tune in without judgment.”
“I am enthusiastically creating a world of living masterpieces.”
Don’t let another minute go by that you are not consciously connected to what you want.
“Your own resolution to success is more improtant than any other one thing.”
Let’s go out and ask for it.
Once you’ve connected with your heart-centered intentions don’t wait around letting them get stale or weak with self doubt… just stand up, make that call, open your mouth, and just ask.
When we move quickly into asking for what we want it keeps it light and leaves our requests free of all that baggage, weight, and strain that all the fears of rejection and unworthiness add to it.

I am bound to live up to what light I have.”
Just ask for what you want and drop all the over-responsibility for how it turns out.
DO IT NOW… EVERYONE, please consider what you are looking for today… and ASK for it right now! Ask for the perfect job. Ask for the referral. Ask for the funding. Ask for the solution. Don’t miss out on the connections you already have to get you moving in a bold new way.

Success BEYOND Approval Seeking…
In my foot race to the base of the mountain I passed close to 100 hikers, many of which I had seen at the top but still more were on their storied journey to the top. Along my path, there were those that were inspired by my trek, and those that resented.
Here’s a question for you…if someone sprinted ahead of you in your life on a path you were traveling, would you find yourself resenting them or would you find yourself inspired?
This was a question that crossed my mind about the same moment a woman, resting for a moment at the side of the trail on her accent to the top yelled out:
“People that run like you should be tripped!”
In Australia, UK, and New Zealand they might call this the “Tall Poppy Syndrome,” which alludes to an ancient Roman practice by the tyrannical ruler, Sextus Tarquinius, who killed all the prominent people in the city Gabii shortly after appointing himself king.
In the US people often call this the “Crab Mentality” where those who are wanting to rise above the collective vat of crabs is continually pulled back down by the surrounding crowds all clambering to the top.
In essence, the two stories tell of a societal phenomenon in which people of genuine merit are criticized or resented because their talents or achievements elevate them “above” or distinguish them from their peers.
I was raised on the belief that this was a social norm and many times in my life I held back my best effort for exactly this reason.
But today, I lay the myth to rest. Only ONE of the near 100 people I passed spoke out in open resentment. Many cheered me on. Some jogged with me for a time and I was thoroughly inspired by someone brave enough to “let er-rip” and show me what SUCCESS BEYOND APPROVAL SEEKING is all about.
So, when a Stephen McGhee, or anyone, sprints ahead of me on the trail of success… J I am choosing to be inspired! I will continue to choose and follow a different, more effective credo voiced by Benjamin Franklin Fairless, president of United States Steel Corporation (1950), who stated:
“You cannot strengthen one by weakening another; and you cannot add to the stature of a dwarf by cutting off the leg of a giant.”
Be MOVED today and JOIN the FAMILY OF GIANTS…
And you too… will inspire many.

After an inspiring invitation from my friend and Super-Coach, Stephen McGhee some months ago to scale one of the highest mountains in the world in South America, I settled for something a bit closer to home… This last spring, I and two of my clients decided to hike to the peak of the tallest mountain in Arizona (12,633ft.,on Mount Humphrey). It took us nearly 4 hours to reach the summit that Saturday. With all the signs and sounds of pain and exhaustion on the pathway to the peak, one would have expected to find an infirmary at the top. But, at the summit, we found a celebration.
The sore songs of the trail were silenced by sweet sounds of triumph, trophy, and breathtaking awe at the limitless view that surrounded us at every turn. While at the top, many stories were shared of the assent, good times, tough times, and little-known trail secrets. Some shared that they had made it to the peak in 3 hours, others 2.5, and then a man wearing little more than a loincloth, muscle shirt, and running shoes clamored to the top.
“How long did it take you?” I asked. He quickly glanced at his watch.
“a buck 16.” (in layman’s terms that’s an hour and 16 minutes)
WOW! I thought, he was twice as fast as ANYONE I knew! “What’s your best time?”
“a buck 16,” he replied. “And this is my third time.”
In less than 3 minutes he turned around and bounded back down the mountain.
I was thoroughly INSPIRED by this man. My mind raced to see how this was even possible! 4,300 ft increase in elevation from the nearest parking lot at a distance of more than 5.5miles… lots of rocks and roots, loose gravel, and nothing but crumbled lava fields in the tundra above 11,000 feet. It would take a quick eye and even quicker feet because with that kind of terrain, at those speeds you can’t just run on the path, you have to spring from every rock and root as everything else is too loose to hold you.
I let the inspiration MOVE me…
And I made it down in a buck 9. (one hour nine minutes) THRILLING!
My nearest client didn’t hit the bottom for another two hours after I reached the base.
I have found, time and time again, that the moment inspiration strikes, that is the time to make a move.
Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.

Thinking back… it was a very dangerous thing I choose to do that afternoon atop the summit of the my “little” Mount Humphrey. But, not only did I survive the descent… I soared! Nearly ever quickened step found solid root or rock, and for every one that didn’t, something else was there (a tree, or mound of dirt) to help me keep a strong and steady flow down the mountain.
So, step 1: Trust the process of creation and be moved by what inspires you.
The Golden Rule of Income Improvement

It’s so simple… we often miss it. There is a direct relationship between how we spend and how we earn. Although, it’s not a matter of quantity; it’s a matter of quality.
In my recent study of the generational effects of money, I found that those families with wealth that grew from one generation to the next had a distinct habit of being gracious and appreciative toward people and companies when they spent money. They were effectively “sold” not only on what they bought, but also on those who made the product or service available to them.
On the flip-side, those families whose wealth was on the decline and were effectively living a poverty process, had a distinct sense of annoyance surrounding similar expenses.
As my friend and best-selling author Steve Chandler has said, “If you have a tendency to think in terms of scarcity, you’ll shut down the inflow of wealth by choking off the outflow.”
So, you don’t need to start spending more, just don’t be stingy with your thank-you’s. Being stingy not only threatens your financial future, it degrades your value and your ability to earn.
The Golden Rule to Income Improvement is this…
Give as You Would Like to be Given
If you want to see how quickly this can influence your income, try this: before you go to that next big interview, contract negotiation, or income opportunity, treat yourself to lunch. Be sure to tip your waiter/waitress in advance and share with them how much you appreciate the work they do to improve your dining experience. As you dine, be on the look-out for the unique value they provide you. Acknowledge them for the good they do as they do it. And, if they spill your glass of water or break a dish, keep it light, think taller, lift your mind to gratitude still that they continue to put THEIR dishes in harms way to serve you.
Do this, and your interview presence will improve, your ability to land the new contract will be enhanced, and your ability to select a worthy income opportunity will be greatly refined.
As we move forward acknowledging the value and service others provide us each time we spend, the inner light that shines on our value brightens. We will stand a little taller. We will be a little better at what we do best. We will be more solid and confident in our own value. And in the face of challenge or opportunity, we will see more clearly the difference we ourselves can make.
Try living it for yourself.
The worst that could happen is a stronger, more grateful you.
